located on the Oriental French side of the Pyrennees Ansignan is nestled at the foothills of the Pyrenees only

50km away from Perpignan and its Mediterranean beaches.

Perched on a cliff Ansignan is famous for hosting the oldest working Aqueduc in France dating back to Romans times.

This Warmly and tastefully decorated village home offers 4 bedrooms and two bathrooms, a lounge dining-room kitchen

and an outside courtyard on the square. This self catering home is suitable for families, groups of friends or even for a

couple wanting a romantic get away.

Ideally situated in the heart of the Cathares Castles, 3 of them less than 50km away, which offer many opportunities

for walks and hikes and exceptional scenery, it’s also very close to the famous Galamus Canyon where canyoning can be enjoyed.

How to get there by road

from France/Toulouse (+/- 2 hours drive)

Take the A61 (highway) towards Carcassonne & Narbonne. Get off the Highway  in Carcassonne direction Limoux & Quillan on the Secondary Road D118. Follow that road through Limoux & Quiza. Then Quillan. In Quillan take the Secondary Road D117 direction Axat & Perpignan. Before getting to Axat stay on the D117 towards  St Paul de Fenouillet & Perpignan. Once entering Saint Paul de Fenouillet just after crossing over the Agly River, at the traffic light turn right on the D619 towards Saint-Arnac & Ansignan. Stay on the D619 for 9 km of a winding road. After +/- 8km you will see the Ansignan Aqueduc on your left and the village of Ansignan on a cliff beyond the Aqueduc. at the Entrance of Ansignan you will see the Tree of Liberty and the D9 going down on your left towards the village of Caramany, carry on straight on the main street called Avenue de l'Hotel de Ville, take the first street on you right called le Village, 200 meters on your right park in front of the Bar-restaurant l'Aqueduc, ask for Alice she will give you the keys and take you to the house.

 

 

from Spain/Barcelone (+/- 2 hours drive)

Take the E15 (highway) towards Figueres then onto Le Boulou. Once in France the E15 becomes the Highway A9. Carry on towards Perpignan, Stay on the A9 through Perpignan then take the D117 Turn off towards Rivesaltes & Espira-de-l'Agly. Stay on your left and don't enter Rivesaltes, carry on the D117 towards Espira-de-l'Agly. Stay on the D117 and go through Cases-de-Pene then Estagel. In Estagel the road goes slightly on the right towards the north and go through the centre of Estagel, it is the D117 carry on until you reach Maury and then Saint Paul de Fenouillet. Go through Saint Paul, as you get towards the center of the village the road bends and goes down, at the traffic light turn left on the D619 towards Saint-Arnac & Ansignan (if you go on a bridge over the Agly River, you have missed the road D619 carry on until you get to a circle and do a u-turn) Stay on the D619 for 9 km of a winding road. After +/- 8km you will see the Ansignan Aqueduc on your left and the village of Ansignan on a cliff beyond the Aqueduc. at the Entrance of Ansignan you will see the Tree of Liberty and the D9 going down on your left towards the village of Caramany, carry on straight on the main street called Avenue de l'Hotel de Ville, take the first street on you right called le Village, 200 meters on your right park in front of the Bar-restaurant l'Aqueduc, ask for Alice she will give you the keys and take you to the house.
